The Okanagan now has its own information security professional organization: the Okanagan Information Security Group (OISG). Our first meeting was on August 29, 2018, and we've been meeting monthly ever since.
The OISG is intended both for people already in infosec and for those interested in it either as a focus or to complement and augment their existing work.
Meetings are usually on the fourth Wednesday of the month in central Kelowna. There are usually no meetings in July and August.
During the COVID-19 pandemic we are meeting online and not quite as regularly. In-person meetings will restart as soon as conditions allow.
Ongoing discussion, coordination, and meeting announcements for the OISG are in the Kelowna Technology Slack's #infosec channel. The Kelowna Tech Slack is at https://kelowna.slack.com
For more information contact either of the OISG co-founders: Chris Hanlon and Garland Sharratt. There is no cost or commitment required.
